What are Scleral Lenses?
A scleral lens is gas permeable and specially designed to dome over the surface of the cornea and rest on the sclera (the white of the eye).
These lenses can help correct vision problems related to corneal irregularities, benefitting patients with eye conditions like keratoconus or irregularly shaped corneas.
If you have dry eye disease, scleral contact lenses may have additional benefits because the space between the cornea and the back surface of the lens acts as a fluid reservoir.
The fluid reservoir created by a scleral lens provides additional hydration and comfort for those unable to wear standard contact lenses.
